Words......
HOW DO YOU LIVE YOUR DASH?

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning...to the end.
He noted that first came her date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years. (1934 - 1998)

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth...
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own;
The cars...the house...the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard...
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real,
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile...
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy's being read
With your life's actions to rehash...
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

DRINKING FROM MY SAUCER

I've never made a fortune And it's probably too late now.
But don't worry about that much, I'm happy anyhow.
And as I go along life's way, I'm reaping better than I sowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup overflowed.

Haven't got a lot of riches, And sometimes the going's tough.
But I've got loving ones around me, And that makes me rich enough.
I thank God for his blessings, And the mercies He's bestowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer, 'cause my cup has overfload.

O, remember times when things went wrong, My faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke, And sun peeped through again.
So Lord, help me not to gripe About the tough rows that I've hoed.
I'm drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage, When the way grows steep and rough.
I'll not ask for other blessings, I'm already blessed enough.
And may I never be too busy, To help others bear their loads.
Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has overflowed.

Much wisdom can be crowded into but four words:

In God we trust.
This too shall pass.
Live and let live.
Still waters run deep.
Bad news travels fast.
Love laughs at locksmiths.
Nothing succeeds like success.
Charity begins at home.
Politics make strange bedfellows.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Man proposes, God disposes.
Let sleeping dogs lie.

A coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous...
