We are the Osenbaugh family from Grand Island, Nebraska. Grand Island is about 100 miles west of Lincoln. The family unit began November 14, 1970 and quickly grew as we added six daughters, a son, and then two more daughters.
John is a native Nebraskan and Rae was raised in the Pismo Beach, California area. We met in Colorado when John returned from Viet Nam. When he got out of the army, we moved to Lincoln. And, as they say, the rest is history....

Our oldest daughter, Christine, lives in Peru, NE. Saffron lives here in Grand Island, so we get to see her family often. Her husband, Darren, works for the city in the accounting department. They have three daughters: Kristen, Kyla, and Mariah. Megan moved to West Virginia to become a nanny after high school and found Mark. They were married here in Nebraska, but moved back to West Virginia.
Erin and James, and their children, Brayden, Hayley and Skylar, moved to West Virginia recently. James is a federal meat inspector and Erin has her teaching certificate, but stays home with the kids for now. Sharona and Guy live in St. Joseph, MO. They have a new baby girl! Newlyweds Shannon and Noah live near here in the St. Libory area.
Young John graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in May of 2004. He transfered from Northwest to take some technical classes only available at GISH. We lost John in October 2004 to Brain Cancer. Samantha is back home attending the local Community College. Chelsea is a Senior in high school this year and is captain of the cheerleading squad.
The grandchildren have their own pages, too--the main links are on their individual Mom's pages, but you can also get to them from here:
Byl was our first foster son, many years ago....we have always kept in touch since he graduated from high school and moved onto his own. He is now married to Julie, who is a wonderful daughter-in-law. They live in the Denver area, and just like the others who live so far away, we don't get to see them often enough!
