Grand Island Parks
These two cards are from 1909. Pioneer Park was dedicated in xxxx on the block where the original Court House stood.
1919: many postcards of the fountain in the park show children in their early-1900 style clothing.
Shimmer's Lake was a popular place to go for picnics in the 1920s and 30s.  The lake was south of town and is now the site of Hall County Park.  The lake has been drained and the area is still used for picnics, ball games, and family gatherings. This card is dated 1925
Shady Bend—The Tourist’s Haven.  These 4 postcards advertised the Shady Bend Cabin Resort, one mile east of Grand Island on Highway 30.  Each cabin had its own garage.  A buffalo herd was kept nearby; there was an underpass tunnel built under the highway for the buffalo to pass through.
